Outsourcing Justice: Vancouver Police & Marc Emery

by on 25/06/10 at 11:51 pm

On September 28th 2005, the Vancouver Public Library hosted a marijuana law debate called “Cannabis Conundrum”. Marc and Jodie Emery attended along with their friend and fellow activist, lawyer Kirk Tousaw. The debate panel included Doug Lang, a Vancouver Police Department veteran of 30 years. One month earlier, the VPD had worked with the DEA and Canada’s RCMP to arrest Marc Emery and raid his business. After the debate ended, someone asked about VPD’s cooperation in Marc Emery’s extradition. Doug Lang explained that the VPD investigated Marc’s seed selling in 2002 and took the information to the Crown (the Canadian federal prosecutor) in 2003 to lay charges… …but the Crown refused to charge Marc in Canada, so the file was picked up by the DEA in the United States. We did not know about the 2003 investigation by the VPD. It’s an important example of the injustice of Marc’s extradition. This video helps demonstrate that the USA sought extradition based on charges that were refused in Canada, even though Marc operated business in Canada at all times. This is just one of the many questionable aspects of the political persecution of Marc Emery…

How bout we strive for police having no involvement in marijuana what so ever..
They’re just covering their own asses.. their excuse is always theyre just playing by the rules and doing their jobs.. Thats what they tell you after they arrest you , rob you and release you without charging you .. its time police put having a conscience ahead of having a pay cheque.

Decriminalization does not put and end to organized crime. It does however encourage the illegal production and sale of Cannabis.

@thefakeyeti a very good point. it would be hard for the rest of the world to take potheads seriously if all the world sees are the the stereotypical “loser pothead.”

it’s the people that have solid jobs, treat their families well, are productive members of society all stood up, it would be hard for the rest of the world to say that all cannabis users are a bunch of lazy, stoned slackers.

and the lazy, stoned slackers should learn when to keep their mouths shut.

“But it won’t be until some ppl grow up and stop thinking that it’s cool to smoke pot, fuck up and drive high on top of ”

There’s always going to be a portion of society that thinks it’s cool to smoke marijuana.

And theres always going to be a portion that drives under the influence

To expect otherwise is to idealistic.

Stop scapgoating others.

“I said I’m done”

I aint forcing you to respond hun, you’re doing that on your own free will.

I said I’m done!

Your wrong!
But you’ve done everything to change the subject…and distort the point…you go from one subject to another.

I’m done!

Marijuana NEEDS to be legal..But it won’t be until some ppl grow up and stop thinking that it’s cool to smoke pot, fuck up and drive high on top of many other things and then basically brag about it on an activist’s youtube channel-Just talking about BIG mistakes publicly in general is ridiculous(unless your a celebrity-which your not)

I’m Done!

I think I should’ve put that comment in here anways, it would’ve been more on topic..

instead of a side issue.

I believe, That we can learn, and expand our knowledge from other people’s experiences with this plant, and in order to do this, we need environments that allow us to discuss these things!

He believes, that marijuana uses should shut the fuck up, whenever these experiences might “Give potheads a bad name”

“I’m done arguing with an immature person that’s unable to reason.”

Oh ya, that’s right!

When someone disagrees with you,
It isn’t that purhaps they have different ways on viewing the situation. It is that they are UNREASONABLE and imature..

And some how calling others fucking idiotsAnd saying “keep that stupid shit to yourself” Is somehow mature? right?, RIGHT

well these are the types of minds we are up agaist except ten times worse, and we must figure ways to crack them. so this was good practice for you because it certainly does not get any easier!

Know what share your stories..say whatever you want!

But we typically don’t share stories about driving under the influence…Endangering not only ourselves but the ppl around us.And nobody in their right mind intentaily says shit to incriminate them self regardless of the situation.

But make yourself look stupid,I don’t care.
And this had nothing to do alcohol.
I’m done arguing with an immature person that’s unable to reason.
Some things are better left unspoken…remember that.

thefakeyeti

Jun 26th, 2010

“point is……… you should have kept the story to yourself”

The point was, to tell other people my situation, and perhaps they will think it through..

I thought in a marijuana community, your suppouse to SHARE your experiences?

And the buety of it all, it only took a couple of hours for the effects to calm down enough for me to drive again.

Would’ve the same happened with alcohol? NOO

loslonelygirls

Jun 26th, 2010

Point is…………..you should have kept the story to your self.

You made a mistake, fine………but you don’t need to advertise it.

You should have have kept your ass at home like a responsible adult to avoid the situation altogether or have
a designated driver.

It’s not what happened…………it’s what COULD have happened.

You always have to think about what COULD happen.
Cause if you don’t–You fuck up…Just like you did!

Bottom line-you fucked up….Then you incriminated yourself.

….”what one person does effects everybody and I couldn’t get that across his mind.”

heres the deal though. I was responsible, came to the realization that I couldn’t drive, and turned off to some back roads, where I found a place I could chill IMMEDIATLEY..

I in no way, in REALITY gave “marijuana users a bad name”

I would’ve “gave marijuana users a bad name” If i would’ve ignored that inclination, and got into a wreck! Like a drunk!

That was the moral of the story, i pulled over!

loslonelygirls

Jun 26th, 2010

Yeah, after he completely changed his point at the end.lol

It was all about him talking about smoking weed and driving under the influence………..And then him thinking that by him being unresponsible by doing so and possibly getting in an accident wouldn’t allow law makers to point a finger at everyone that smokes pot……….Giving them another reason to not legalize it.
It’s a chain reaction, domino effect….what one person does effects everybody and I couldn’t get that across his mind.

you guys seem to be arguing the same point.

loslonelygirls

Jun 26th, 2010

Jodie,
I want to apologize for engaging in this ridiculous argument on your channel.
If you read from the beginning you will see that I was simply trying to protect what we’re all fighting for.
If everybody doesn’t grow up and be responsible including i and the guy I was arguing with……..we will never succeed.

thefakeyeti-Don’t drive high and then get on youtube(especially this channel)and talk about it later.Don’t think that what you do won’t put us ALL in a bad light.
Let’s work together!

Jun 26th, 2010

They say that shit to scare parents.

Half the shit out government says is pulled outta their asses!

There is a percentile……………There is a large percentile of ppl that what to keep pot illegal and they’ll make pot sound as potent as meth to do it.

loslonelygirls

Jun 26th, 2010

You just completely changed your point.

Well if the day ever comes that you can walk into a store and buy pot……………………….I’ll tell you what your getting!

Your getting schwag at a high price.

Your getting a bag of dog shit that cost more than the mother Light of Jah plant herself and all of her baby plants!

If that time comes………..fuck a store and grow your own!
Then you will know exactly what your getting.

thefakeyeti

Jun 26th, 2010

Alright, then when they claim that the potency of marijauna is higher today, then it is yesterday..

And generally they give a PERCENTILE, how do they come up with that percentile?

Is it pulled out of their asses?

Also, in a regulated market, we would begin to become familar with each strain. As of now, you never know what you’ll get!

thefakeyeti

Jun 26th, 2010

I am not suggesting cops measure the potency of pot in order to gage how high someone is.

I would like to be able to walk into a retail store, and be able to KNOW what I am getting.

IE. A regulated, controlled market.

Now, if you want to grow your own ,much like someone may distill their own liquor. e I don’t believe, you should have to post the THC content..

AGAIN, you have to site me a website, the process of how the measure the potency. It MIGHT be impractical (Like you suggest)
