The studies on marijuana have been done already, NY’s mayor LaGuardia set up a commission, then years later Nixon.
Both concluded that weed is awesome.

Ummm…who said it was against the law? What are you even talking about?
This is how you Keeniacs are though…if someone points out that your methods are counterproductive you get angry. Children.

@OnGuard4Liberty you and silent are blind as hell then…and since when was being verbally agressive and rude against the law?

There are two proported goals of police: maintaining the peace/protecting innocents from abuse, and enforcing the law. When the law is abusive these goals conflict. I wish they would prioritize the former goal over the latter. We need people to stop bad guys, and provide protection. We don’t need people to enforce the arbitrary will of politicians upon us.

It’s up to them whether they will arrest someone. If they forcibly confine someone who they know is not harming and has not harmed others, it’s a kidnapping by any reasonable definition. Violence is only appropriate in self defense or defense of innocents.
It’s not that I think they do too much or not enough, it’s that I think they do the wrong things. Stop people who are harming others. Better yet, stand up for the rights of individuals, when the government violates them.

Unfortunately, it isn’t up to the police whether someone goes in a cage or not. They charge people – that is their job – and of course ego and emotion will often play a role at times. The caging part is up to a judge. Police departments have their various daily calls to deal with besides dealing with dopers – I doubt they sport boners over having to go to these 4:20 thingies and get screamed and yelled at. Either people think cops don’t do anything at all – or they think they’re overzealous.

They shouldn’t be putting people in cages for possessing a plant, period, whether it’s their job or not.
I guess sadly, given the state of “law enforcement” in this country, the fact that innocent people were not brutally beaten is actually worth noting.
I recognize that KPD is far better than many police departments.
Now if they could only live up to the standard most people set in their daily lives. Somehow we manage not to savagely beat those who don’t obey us, and we also don’t cage them.

In absolutely none of the instances shown at the 4:20 events in Keene, have the police acted violent or immoral. Despite people getting in their faces yelling, screaming and practically begging to get arrested, they have held the bar in doing their job professionally – no beatings…no nothing – just cited and released (when they know who it is anyways). Those cops are every bit a part of the community as the next person…they pay taxes…kids go to school…mow their lawn…shop etc etc.

There’s a fine line between “acting like you didn’t expect the state to get violent”, and pointing out the immorality of the state getting violent.
For example, I think saying “All I did is X. There is no reason the cops had to do Y” is pointing out the immorality of the behavior of the cops — not acting like it was a shock.

I don’t think Rich meant to blow smoke in anyone’s face. I do think he intended to get arrested so people whining about that are trying to have it both ways: they want to engage in civil disobedience and become an example of the violence of the state. Great…but then don’t act like you didn’t expect the state to get violent with you. Show some class, state your position and stop acting like it was a big shock. Take a page from Gandhi and MLK who you claim to emulate.

Rich Paul was very much aware of that cop roaming near him…he walked right past him, plus numerous cameras pointed at him – plus the baiting one liners being quipped. He knew that cop was there – purposely took a drag – and exhaled smoke knowing full well it would “blow” “waft” “breeze” WHATEVER in the face of a person who obviously may not want it. It was rude, childish – and completely intentional. So get off your high horse passing judgment on other people’s interpretations.

@PaulOtt Paul – hey look – I admire your walking the walk with your move to SC – seriously, but you’re gone…I live here still…have small kids…& have a totally different perspective on the actions of people who blatantly disregard other peoples feelings…including the police. Dishonest? Me? Who are you to judge? You can’t seem to provide any thought on the matter except the semantics and interpretations of “blowing smoke” – you have your thought, I have mine, sorry you don’t like that.

Saying he blew smoke in the cop’s face does not accurate depict the cop brushing up behind him and getting smoke in his face. When most people read you writing: “blowing smoke in their faces,” they will likely think something very different than what actually happened. You are being disingenuous at best, and dishonest at worst. But I’m starting to suspect that you don’t care about truth and understanding, only stirring up trouble and I don’t care to play that game. Hope you have a nice day.

@PaulOtt When your outside on a breezy day – and smoke from your chimney blows in your face – you would say….oh – there is smoke blowing in my face. When you walk outside a restaurant and the smokers are huddled outside and smoking….one normally says…cough cough…fucking smokers blowing smoke in my fucking face. Those retarded animals at the square….blew smoke in the cops face – so you can cut the whimsical “stop doing this. Thank you.” routine.

Go watch this video: watch?v=veffoSf4oW4 and look at 0:53 in. Rich Paul clearly does not blow smoke in the cops face, although the cop claims he did. Now please stop lying. Thank you.
