I dropped in on a marijuana shop here that proudly boasted that it sells “31 flavors.” It also offered a loyalty program. For every 10 purchases of pot — supposedly for medical uses — you get one free packet.
“There are five of these shops within a three-block radius,” explained the proprietor, Edward J. Kim. He brimmed with pride at his inventory and sounded like any small businessman as he complained about onerous government regulation. Like, well, state and federal laws.

SF Giants Win One for the Freaks
The opening game of this year’s World Series saw the San Francisco Giants, lead by their ace pitcher Tim “The Freak” Lincecum, squaring off with the Texas Rangers and their “sure win” pitcher Cliff Lee.
Lincecum, the 26-year-old two-time Cy Young winner, wears long hair and was busted for marijuana possession in his home state of Washington in the off season. Lee looks like a good old boy and says his favorite day of the year is the start of deer-hunting season.

Snoop on Prop 19: “You Know Where I Stand”
Just in case you weren’t sure, Snoop Dogg supports Proposition 19 — the state’s marijuana legalization initiative. He pushed the ballot measure in a get-out-the-vote video released this week.
“I’m urging everybody to get out there on Nov. 2,” Snoop said, with about as much urgency as you’d expect from him, in the video for the League of Young Voters. “And also, on Prop 19, you know where I stand on that (puff). Very high.”
Not exactly an October surprise.
